Ken Goodey I've been considering Eight Bells for a while now – I wasn't exactly sure whether I liked them, or whether it was just a passing interest. I finally decided to buy Landless & this, and now I can honestly say it’s definitely a ‘like’. Grand soundscapes; soaring guitars; heavy drums, and an appropriate combination of harmonised, melodic vocals and raw, yelled vocals. As for a genre category, well, your guess is as good as mine, but then that’s always been a positive for me. Favorite track: Yellowed Wallpaper.

Paul Schwarz If _Killing Technology_ (1987) had a baby with some sort of space rock; Eight Bells really are an "incredible" band from Portalnd, OR. Wow. Now who can get them to Europe for a full tour synched w Roadburn? Favorite track: Fate and Technology.

about

Eight Bells Portland, Oregon

"Wraithlike vocals and numbed melodies hanging over pinprick prog fretwork... The pulse of ethereal '70s rock – from Pink Floyd to Hawkwind's more celestial moments... Dual vocal lines emanate from some unseen place, sometimes braided together in a conjoined plea for connection... Heartbreakingly beautiful."
